They're Predicting A Big Dump Of Snow...

We haven't really had any substantial amount of  snow dropped on this city in years and when we do Vancouver almost grinds to a halt...it seems most Vancouverites are either ill-equipped or just plain unable to drive in the snow. In our defense though, we don't get enough snow for anyone to get good at it and most people aren't going to spend money on snow tires if they don't have to. That being said there are still a lot of terrible drivers on the road with absolutely no common sense. It snowed people, slow down!

I can remember way back in the olden days when we really used to get snow...

...and this was in North Burnaby...

     My Mom, what a trooper...

Dad still dug his truck out and made it to work...

I get a kick out of this next photo because around Christmas there would always be the night when Mom, Dad, Sis and I would pile in the truck to go look at Christmas lights--it was the best, Christmas was finally here. Wendy and I would be in awe of all the elaborate displays. The effort that some people put in, Nativity scenes, Santa with all his reindeer and elves, whole houses lit up including the trees...magic. All we ever had was that one pathetic string of multi-coloured lights nailed up haphazardly around the front door. Not that I care but thinking back on it now I wonder what people thought when they drove by our house. God bless Dad for trying...

Oh, the good ole days...when people understood how to drive in the snow and took the proper precautions...when you put bread bags over your boots for added protections from the wet cold while sledding...(Keep your body flat while zipping under an electric fence!)...
I hate scraping windshields and refuse to shovel our sidewalk--because no one else on our block does!
