Joan Jett..

More rock swagger than most of the guys--doesn't look bad in a string bikini either..

Dan Johnson...

...possibly the worlds boringest nature photographer but here's some of the local fauna..

"Boringest" isn't a real word BTW.

LORDOFZEP...

I'm not sure if that's the name of the band but Steve Jones and I found these guys surfing (they weren't surfing, we were) YouTube last night--talk about classic. They have a bunch of videos they filmed in the drummers basement in 1983. Must have been all on the same night because they're wearing the same clothes in every vid--either that or it's all the clothes they had. Check out the lead guitar players solid lid/mustachio combo and the drummers sweet leather vest and pectoral muscles. Stick with this till about the 1:49 mark and keep your eye on the drummer. They're actually pretty good but it's seems a little weird how they stick the lead singer in the back..

Saskatchewan..

Recently my Dad was put back in contact with an old scrapbook of photographs that his Mother had made of their homestead in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. I'm not exactly sure who the people are in these photos but the contraption you see in the background is called a "dray". It was basically the original mini-van. Horses were attached (?) to the front and the family would ride in style to visit neighbours, get firewood, go to town, etc. and wheels were attached once the snow was gone. Doubtful they had any cup-holders and imagine the cold...

I got a kick out of this photo as well. Dad said people used to put their babies out the back door to "get some sun." Hilarious- and the baby seems to be lovin' it...

YouTube..

I'm all for everyone's freedom of expression and I'm probably the last person that should criticize a person's creative efforts (all you have to do is follow this blog to figure that out) but I have to admit that blogging has been a great outlet for me. That having been said there is something I haven't quite been able to wrap my head around on YouTube and it's the popularity of people such as this..

Good for her (I guess), she has over 100 videos posted, loads of subscribers and her videos receive thousands of views. I get that she's cute and a lot of teenage boys probably watch her--originally I thought she was a teen but after watching a couple of her posts, found out she's 21 years old. It's weird because as I'm writing this I'm thinking how these type of videos can be like a car wreck for me--I can't look away. But seriously, hundreds of thousands of views? I'm probably just jealous anyway because I'm thrilled if I have one comment.

Love Iggy...

This song and video are awesome. I know that word gets way over-used but these were my choices according to the thesaurus; incredible, magnificent, wonderful, marvelous, spectacular, remarkable, phenomenal, prodigious, breathtaking, extraordinary, unbelievable, amazing, stunning, astounding, astonishing, awe-inspiring, staggering, formidable, impressive, supreme, great, awesome, superhuman; informal fantastic, terrific, tremendous, stupendous, mind-boggling, mind-blowing, jaw-dropping, out of this world, far-out; literary wondrous.

    Awesome seems fine...

     Thanks Lianne.

It reminded me of this classic..

Riding Giants..

I just finished watching an excellent movie on the history of surfing called...you guessed it, Riding Giants. While there were many pioneers, the Muhammad Ali, Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan and Wayne Gretzky of the surfing world is a guy by the name of Laird Hamilton..

...who is married to volleyball player Gabrielle Reece..

Who are these people BTW?... Anyway (spoiler alert) near the end of the movie they show Laird's masterpiece, surfing at Teahupo, Tahiti. I know everybody's inter-web attention span is about 30 seconds but try to stick with this till the 1:39 mark...incredible..

Boots Randolph...

There was a song I heard a lot at my parents drinkin' parties growing up..

But most people seem to know it as the Benny Hill theme song. Jim Rome did a bit on his show a while ago saying no matter what shit things (fired, laid off, bankruptcy, divorce, brain tumor) you've got going on in your life it's almost impossible to be down with this playing in the background..

I concur. Or maybe if you play it enough you'll wind up completely mad--that might not be too bad either. It's worth a try.

Brilliant Or Retarded? You Make The Call...

Hey baby wake up from your a sleep. We have arrived onto the future and the whole world is become.... Elektronik, Supersonik, Supersonik...

The Philly Idol Classic At The Chateau Whistler And The Sea To Sky Highway...

The Chateau was (is) an incredible golf course, talk about your scenic vistas...

There is a Mama bear and her two cubs in this one--best I could do with my zoom. Better that they stay one fairway over. We were told that some idiot tourists actually go up and try to pet them...

That's the infamous Philly Idol on my right...

My good pal Steve Jones...a North Van classic...

      Black Tusk...

     The Chief...
